A whole week of Negronis.......what to do, what to do...

So this week is actually Negroni week across the county, bars and restaurants across the country are celebrating one of my favorite gin cocktails called the Negroni. There have been a few conflicting stories on the who, what and when this cocktail came about, but the one I am going with today is in Florence, Italy, in 1919, at Caffè Casoni, located on Via de' Tornabuoni and now called Caffè Roberto Cavalli. Count Camillo Negroni asked the bartender on duty, Fosco Scarselli, to make his favorite the Americano stronger by adding gin instead of soda water.
Fosco switched it up also by adding an orange garnish instead of a lemon, easy right, guy orders a drink, wants it stronger and boom, we have a hit! Now none of us was there, and most of the people who were there were drinking, lol, I'm just saying. This tasty drink is equal parts gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth, the beauty of Negroni week is for bartenders to create their twist on a classic and get to share it with the world. The week of Negroni not only allows us to create and allows you the guest to drink for a cause, oh yes, everyone that participates donates a portion of the sale of the drinks to local charities. I had to privilege of working with Bols Genever and the Atlanta Marriott NW in creating a cocktail called L'il Red Light Negroni
It's equal parts Bols Genever, Campari and Lillet Blanc
It's a light and refreshing take on a classic, and it comes in a light bulb. I was also blessed to taste a few other's this week, next to mine my next favorite was at Cape Dutch and a beautiful cocktail also made with Bols by my new bar crush Alexander Sher
The Negroni is a lovely cocktail and this week check out you favorite place and get one, if you don't love it lke I do, at least you are drinking for a cost....... Still in motion Keyatta
